Introducing the latest wheat and barley varieties consistent with climatic conditions
The latest cultivars of wheat and barley, adapted to the climatic conditions of today, were introduced to farmers at the Agricultural Research and Training Center for Agricultural and Natural Resources of South Khorasan.
The new cultivars of Wheat and Khatam, Noor, Golshan, Nosrat, Reyhan 03, Yusuf, Nik and Goharan are new cultivars of barley that are resistant to salinity stress, according to the Khorasan Satellite News Agency, Bam, Arg, Ofogh, Narin and Barzegar.
The head of the Agricultural Research Station of Mohammadieh, a member of the farmers group, said the new cultivars are the result of a 13-year effort by researchers from the Agricultural Research Center for Agricultural and Natural Resources of South Khorasan and the Seed and Plant Improvement Institute.
He noted the importance of these figures in increasing agricultural production: the average yield of new cultivars is 5 tons per hectare, which has reached 7 tons per hectare at the research training farm of the research center.
He said there are two ways to increase agricultural production, or increase yields, in order to increase agricultural production, which is not possible due to the limited availability of water resources.
Head of Agricultural Research Station of Mohammadiyad added: “One of the best ways to increase production is to use modified cultivars that are compatible with the province’s climate and produce higher yields than local cultivars.
Among the other benefits of introducing new cultivars, Arazmjou mentioned resistance to pests and diseases and said: “Wheat and barley are the most important wheat and barley disease, and the solution to this is the introduction of resistant varieties that cannot break the resistance.
