Worry about the future of three staple products

Deputy Minister of Agriculture said:”I am deeply concerned about the future (production) of the crops for which the government is intervening in pricing, such as sugar, wheat and oilseeds.
Abbas Keshavarz said at the 7th national conference on crop cultivation that during the last crop year agriculture had three problems with flooding, and exchange rate increase. He added that about 4-5 tons of wheat in Khuzestan province was destroyed due to flood. The exchange rate towards the realization caused a lot of blessings for the agricultural sector.
He said that harvest and production levels had increased with the help of the International Institute for Semite. He said the country’s forage package is typically alfalfa and maize, with 2 percent of the forage coming from alfalfa, which consumes 5 percent of agricultural water.
“We have not had cotton seeds in the past, but now there are farmers who produce 0.5 to 2 tonnes of cotton per hectare,” the official said.
Finally, stating that the pest has caused serious problems for rapeseed in Kermanshah, the plant protection organization must come in to solve this issue, adding: White pest is another problem for rapeseed as well as serious pest damage in these fields, which a committee should be set up to deal with these pests.
