A member of the Parliamentary Agriculture Committee believes that the traditional sale and purchase of agricultural products has many consequences for the country: for example, the same price determination for the best and worst wheat produces a decrease in the quality of wheat.

Each year, with the start of the harvest season for various agricultural products, there are concerns among producers and the government, one of the most important of which is the monitoring of how these products are bought.

Due to the fact that the purchase of agricultural products in the country in the traditional way, every year we see pollution among the products supplied to the government in the policy of purchasing a guarantee. Experts say that if we can strengthen the surveillance in the field of agricultural exchanges, we will face less such a problem.

Recently, with the decision of the Government’s Economic Committee, the supply of corn and barley will be carried out on the Iranian stock exchange, which is a positive step towards organizing and strengthening surveillance in this sector.

In the same vein, Seyed Razi Nuri, a member of the parliament’s agricultural committee, said on Monday: “In the past years, despite all government support, the results have not been sufficient to organize the market for agricultural products and stimulate farmers, because the structure is unclear, and in a non-transparent substrate it is not possible to achieve the maximum efficiency of effort.

In the past years, we observed that some agricultural products were sold to the government without any sanitary measures, while in the barley and maize sector, with the implementation of a guaranteed price policy, we saw the supply of goods on the stock exchange and we have been improving processes in this regard.

Consequences of traditional sales of agricultural products

Nouri continued: Traditional agricultural products are having a lot of consequences for the country; for example, we always see that, unfortunately, our best and worst wheat is sold at a price, which, in turn, leads to a reduction in the quality of wheat and the discouragement of producers.

In answer to the question of what is your solution to improve these processes and the growth of product quality? He said: sooner or later, we should move from a traditional mechanism and inefficient exchanges to a modern and transparent sale, because there is no way to develop this route. Therefore, in the presence of a clear mechanism in our country, the stock exchange in Iran, we must get the state support of all the farmers of the country with the exchange, in order to know that a higher quality product in the stock exchange will have a higher price than the non-quality product.

“It’s always stated that we oversaw the process of production, sales and service of goods, but Opportunity could monitor this volume of distributed agricultural production and prevent the occurrence of violations; then the solution is still a stock exchange.  Provision should be made in all the provinces for the supply of goods on the stock exchange so that the whole country can see the exact price of the specified quality products by viewing the bulletin board.

Increasing the supply of agricultural products on stock exchanges

According to this MP, to the extent that the speed of supply of agricultural products on the stock exchange is furthered, we have helped reduce the number of agricultural intermediaries and stimulate farmers’ growth, which, of course, should happen many years ago, until today, transparency is seen. Statistics on the production and sale of agricultural products; as a matter of fact, the necessary measures must be provided as soon as possible. Fortunately, the recent supply of barley and corn has been approved in the stock exchange for several years.

At the end, the member of the Agriculture Committee of the Parliament emphasized: “If we want to provide the consumers with the least harm to the main producers, then the mechanism of the stock exchange is the best route because the product is at the disposal of the consumer with fair price.” And the creation of a currency-induced psychological atmosphere cannot also increase the price of products falsely.
