Wheat cultivation area exceeded six million hectares
“The use of certified seeds has decreased by one third,” the executive secretary of the National Wheat Farmers Foundation said, adding that the level of wheat cultivation had reached 6.2 million hectares.
Ali Khan Mohammadi said: The total area below the level has reached 6 million and two hundred thousand hectares, which is equivalent to the cultivation of previous years.
He pointed out that the important issue is that farmers have not used certified seeds so that this year due to high seed prices and low wheat prices most farmers turned to self-consumption and did not use certified seeds.
Khan Mohammadi said certified seed consumption this year has dropped to one-third of the previous year, as certified seed prices have increased by five hundred tomans per kilogram this year, but the price of wheat has remained constant.
“If the government and parliament take action, it could be hoped for improved cultivation conditions, as farmers find enough liquidity to produce the right inputs,” Khan Mohammadi said. .
He added that plant nutrition would have a positive impact on yield and quality of the crop, adding: “Plant nutrition is a very important issue and in this way, farmers can also fight weeds and this has an impact on production efficiency.
