The effect of increasing CO2 on wheat plant growth
The results of one study show that the amount and type of effect of increasing atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration on wheat plant growth depends on soil moisture status and cultivar type.
A student at the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, Isfahan University of Technology, in his thesis examined the “response of wheat genotypes to water deficit under normal and enriched carbon dioxide conditions”.
At present, global efforts, even in developing countries, are focused on reducing the negative impacts of climate change. Drought stress is one of the challenges in crop production, including wheat, as drought increases. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the rate and mechanism of response of wheat cultivars to leading environmental conditions.
