Saif added: Since the beginning of the wheat buying season to date, seven million seven hundred thousand tons of this product have been guaranteed and registered in the systems, which is expected to reach 8 million by the end of October.
He said that the total value of wheat purchased by the state-owned trading company in the form of a government guaranteed purchase is 134000 billion Rials from which 130000 billion Rials has been paid to farmers.
Saif added: From the President to the managing director of the Budget and Planning Organization, the Minister of Industry and the Minister of Agriculture are trying to pay off all the demands of the wheat to farmers by the end of this week and fully offset the government debt figure in this area.
Referring to the drop of 1 million 470 thousand tonnes of guaranteed wheat purchases this year compared to last year, he said: “Three incidents occurred at the same time this year, the first being the rainfalls from November to April which increased rice cultivation in the tropics. In some tropical regions, the yield of this product increased by 7 times compared to last year.
But on the other hand, the second incident was the flood that occurred in the same tropical regions as Khuzestan, Lorestan and Golestan, destroying almost a million tonnes of wheat crop in those areas, Saif added.
He also said that the third thing was that in the cold regions, the rainfall decreased from May so that this caused a decrease in wheat harvest in the cold regions compared to last year.
Saif added that the private sector’s entry into the wheat market also led to a reduction in government purchases due to the release of wheat prices in the trade and industry, according to reports from the trade and industrial associations, 700-800 thousand tons of wheat was bought by the private sector this year. Of this amount is registered in the systems and another part is being registered.
The director of the state-owned commercial company, referring to the impact of the guaranteed purchase price of wheat on the production of this product, said: “At present, the guaranteed purchase price of wheat is 1700 Tomans, which has a direct impact on the motivation of the wheat producers.”
