The country’s flour consumption is 11 million tons, and despite the production of 25 million tons of flour, we have a good export capacity
Chairman
of the Association of Flour and Bread Centers said: We cannot export due to
currency fluctuations and customs problems that have been created for the
transit of wheat, and our export share has fallen. Turkey, Russia and
Uzbekistan have easily filled our presence.
Hossein
Yazdjerdi, director of the Association for Flour and Bread, said at a press
conference today at Iran State Trading Corporation: “Before the
revolution, the flour storage capacity was 4.5 million tons, which was done
with heavy mills after the revolution due to them being insanitary. Some of
these mills have been converted to roller mills and have reached 25 million
tons by today.
He added: “We have introduced good
technologies and machines from the best countries in the world and now Iran is
among the 10 countries in the world in terms of technology.
Yazdgerdi
continued: “In cooperation with the Ministry of Industry, we produced some
machinery in the country and export to countries such as Azerbaijan,
Turkmenistan and Russia.” The country’s flour consumption is 11 million
tons, and despite the production of 25 million tons of flour, we have a good
export capacity.
He
acknowledged that before the revolution, our modern factories also lacked a
laboratory, but since 1368 factories must have a laboratory obligatory. After
the presence of the laboratory, the presence of the technical officer in the
factories was forced to make progress in the industry.
“There
was no standardization in wheat, and bread storage,” he said. Still, this
is not the first and last part of this standard chain, but the flour segment is
standardized and its standards are international, if these standards are not
met in factories, they will be subject to fines.
Yazdjerdi
pointed to the export of flour to Iraq: Last year, 500,000 tons of flour was
exported to Iraq, but foreign exchange fluctuations caused an export problem.
We did not get this market easily, but we cannot export due to currency
fluctuations and customs problems that have been created for the temporary
clearance of wheat, and our export share has fallen. Turkey, Russia and
Uzbekistan have easily filled our presence.
Following
the meeting, Ali Khanmohammadi, the secretary of the Association of
Manufacturers and Importers of Industrial Bread, remarked: “We have good
machinery and the raw materials we had previously imported from the
Netherlands, we are currently producing eight well-equipped factories in Iran,
and other than the production of industrial and traditional breads We have good
exports to the countries of Eastern Europe and Africa.
KhanMohammadi,
referring to bread technology in the country, said the export is difficult, and
it is kept for 5 days, but we have started exporting bread technology and we
are exporting machinery, formulations, personnel and raw materials. Not only is
our bread not dependent on foreign countries, but also we can even share the technical
knowledge.
