470 Thousand tons of modified wheat seeds have been prepared and stored for cultivation in the country.

“This seed rate has been improved from 670 varieties and there is no restriction on distribution among wheat farmers,” said the director of wheat cultivation project.

Ismail Esfandiari Pour added: It is expected that the next year’s crop will be cultivated in 6 million hectares of wheat and about 14 million tons of crops will be harvested.

He added: Of the 6 million hectares, about 4 million hectares of dryland wheat and 2 million hectares of irrigated wheat will be planted.

He said: So far, 2 million and 300 thousand hectares of wheat have been cultivated, 20 percent of which is in irrigated fields and 45 percent in dryland.
