Reasons for not delivering wheat to the government by farmers
Deputy Minister of Agriculture,
referring to the reasons for not delivering wheat to the government by farmers,
said: “Actions have been taken to prevent potential smuggling.”
Ali Akbar Mehrfard said in response to discussions
by some private sector activists about the withdrawal of about 2.5 million
tonnes of wheat from the guaranteed purchase cycle and the possibility of
smuggling it out of the country. When it comes to farmers’ demands, it plays a
major role in encouraging them to deliver wheat to the government, but it
should be borne in mind that the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and the
Islamic Consultative Assembly and the government, after two phases of increase
compared to last year, have led to the current rate being approved by the
Economic Council.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture stated: Hope for
rising prices due to inflationary expectations, increased demand due to
diversion of consumption as an alternative commodity and the presence of some
speculators and offer higher prices for wheat smuggling, increase the
probability of wheat storage by some producers or intermediaries.
Mehrfard continued: “Actions have been taken
by the agencies responsible for preventing potential smuggling as well as
off-grid supply and consumer diversion, so stockholders are expected to deliver
their wheat in the near future.
He also referred to the suspension of the
concentration law, saying: According to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers
no. 7.2.2.1 This issue has been transferred to the Ministry of Health, so
relevant issues from the relevant date should be pursued.
