A member of parliament’s
agricultural commission said the government had put forward a proposal for
purchase of wheat at 2500 tomans, which was put on the agenda of the Economic
Council.
Ali Akbari, member of the Parliamentary Committee
on Agriculture, Water, Natural Resources and Environment on the amount of wheat
purchased from farmers in the current crop year and the guaranteed purchase
price for this crop next year, said: According to reports received up to two
weeks ago, seven and Half a million tonnes of wheat were purchased from farmers
as a guarantee.
End of September Last opportunity to buy wheat
Speaking at a meeting of the Islamic Consultative
Assembly, he said that by the end of September the government would be given
the opportunity to deliver the existing wheat.
So far, the purchase rate of 2800 tomans offered
by the farmers has not been approved.
Noting that the government has not yet agreed to
the offer of a guaranteed purchase price of 2800 tomans next year for crops
presented by the farmer, Akbari added: The government has put forward a
proposal for 2500 tomans of wheat which is on the agenda of the Economic
Council.
Member of the Parliamentary Committee on
Agriculture, Water, Natural Resources and Environment finally told the House of
Commons that the guaranteed purchase price of wheat as a strategic commodity
should be determined by national interests and purely for the benefit of
farmers.
