Our competitors took the share of Iranian flour in Iraqi market
The head of Iran’s Flour Industry
Association announced that we exported about 500,000 tons to Iraq last year,
and we managed to import a large import of 1.7 million tons from this country,
but this year our competitors took this share. We expect the government to help
us redeem this contribution.
Hussein Yazdjerdi in a press
conference stated: we can utilize capacities for the development of exports and
currency exchange; Stating that the market share in such a situation of other
countries is no easy task, he noted that after the fluctuations of the currency
rates we have encountered problems and lost our 500,000-ton share obtained from
the import of the 1.7 million tons of flour to Iraq so that this share was
taken from Iran by countries like Turkey, Russia and Uzbekistan.
The head of the Iranian Flour
Industry Association added: “This year, we thought we could get a larger
share of the Iraqi market, with the fact that this 500,000-ton share did not
come about easily, and all traders and businessmen knew this issue, but due to
problems such as foreign exchange fluctuations and other barriers that we face
in the customs for the return of the currency, our share was decreased in the
market.
He hoped that officials would help
flour producers and exporters to regain this share of our competitors and to be
able to play a good role in the Iraqi market, as in the past.
