FAO reported a 1.2 percent increase in global cereal production in 2019. FAO predicted global grain production will increase to 2.665 million tonnes in the coming year.

According to FAO, global wheat production will increase by 5.6% to 771 million tonnes next year, largely due to increased wheat production in India. FAO also predicted that global rice production will remain stable next year (516 million tons) compared with the current year.

FAO also reported a 2 percent increase in world grain trade and reached 415 million tons. According to FAO report, global wheat trade is about twice as fast growing.
