Launching of a wheat research site

The site for researching wheat was
launched in order to increase productivity.

The research site for increasing wheat
cultivation in dry lands began its work with the collaboration of the
International Center for Wheat and Maize Research.

Deputy Director for Plant Improvement
at Agriculture Organization says: this plan in collaboration with the Ministry
of Agriculture and the International Center for Maize and Wheat Research
(CIMMYT) will be implemented in three other provinces Qazvin, Hamedan and
Ardebil in addition to Zanjan.

According to Keramati, the 30%
increase in wheat performance in dry lands is the   goal of this plan.

Increasing the productivity of wheat
crop systems in Iran and improving farm management will be the objectives of
implementing this plan for 5 years.

Deputy Director for Plant Improvement
at Agriculture Organization of the province said: in order to implement this
project in Zanjan province, 2 research sites in Saein Qaleh and Aqbolagh –
Khodabandeh city have been created with a total area of ​​30
hectares.

To implement this project   , using new technologies, 13 different seed
varieties of new and most commonly used wheat seeds are selected from different
cold regions of the country.

The opportunity to plant new
products   along with strengthening the
land for cultivation next year is another goal of this project.
