It is not appropriate to consider wheat as animal food
President of department of farmers empowerment said, the rate of 1600 Tomans is corresponding to the 21 to 24 percent inflation rate announced by the central bank and indicates 25 percent increase after four years. But these rates are only account for the current year and do not compensate for the cost of the two years that they had not increased the price.
Aligholi Imani, chairman of the wheat empowerment fund, with regard to the price of wheat announced by the government and satisfaction of the farmers said, there was silence at firs in this respect, and that the government did not intend to increase, but with the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture, the rate of 1470 Tomans was announced firstly which with further follow up, the government was convinced that the rate should be 1600 Tomans.
He added: “1600 Tomans is corresponding to the inflation rate that the central bank has declared to be between 21 to 24 percent and varies, and represents about 25 percent increase after 4 years, but this rate is only for this year does not compensate for the cost of the two years that they had not increased the price.
Imani continued, referring to the poor probability of a change in the purchase price, adding that the opinion of Mr. Keshavarz may be that, in the current situation and with regard to production costs this year, the price is appropriate. Since the government has announced this price, it’s unlikely that this price will change again. The government has announced its decision and there is poor probability for them to review and change the announced price.
The head of the wheat plant empowerment agency added: “The president also announced in a speech in Semnan, and expressed satisfaction at the rate, during which he managed to increase the wheat rate by 4 times, and we should accept this rate as a farmer and a producer.” But to compensate for the past, the government can help farmers by considering 4200-Toman subsidized dollar rate for the required supplies and by considering long term loans for them so that farmer are satisfied with the conditions.
Imani responded to the comments made by a member of the Farmer’s House regarding farmers’ dissatisfaction with the purchase price and the lack of wheat production: We must deal with rational issues and not feel emotional. Due to the atmosphere and since we are the importer, the increase in the price of the barley is natural, but it is impossible to consider wheat as animals food.
He added that wheat is harmful to the animals and cannot be used until it is gone through a scourer and the bran is given to animals, otherwise it will destroy the stomach and intestines of the animals. These arguments emanate from emotion and cannot be considered.
