Impact of flood on wheat production

Since the beginning of this year, due to heavy rainfall in various parts of the country and flooding in some provinces, a large amount of agricultural land was affected by this natural phenomenon, which included wheat cultivated land.

Flood is one of the most destructive factors that will be dealt with later in the region, and if the water does not go away faster than agricultural land, it will be reduced to the same level of land fertilization.

The vice president of the wheat empowerment foundation on the impact of floods on agricultural lands said that in all flood provinces, much damage to the wheat and barley lands was also observed in some cases in Aq Qala, which some of the wheat lands had a 100% destruction.

He believes that rising rainfall in the country, in addition to flooding, will improve the condition of some farmers in the field of agricultural water supply, and this year farmers will not suffer from water scarcity.

Of course, it is important to increase the amount of wheat production in dry land provinces in rainy provinces and dry land farms, due to increased production, compensate for the shortage of wheat due to recent floods.

In this regard, Abbas Keshavarzi, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Affairs, said: “Damage to the agricultural land is part of this damage, temporary flooding and falling into a part of the product, and then this problem is raised.

Due the fact that about 55 percent of these lands were between 25 and 55 percent damaged, so about 50 percent of the land and damaged agricultural products could be reversed.

Deputy Agriculture Affairs Minister of Jihad-e-Keshavarzi said: “About 250 thousand hectares of agricultural products and about 150 thousand hectares of gardens have disappeared due to recent floods.

The official said: regarding the gardens, the provinces of Khuzestan, Mazandaran and Kermanshah, and the provinces of Khuzestan, Lorestan and Golestan, Mazandaran, Ilam and Kermanshah provinces were the most damaged.

Minister of Agriculture also said: “The harvest of wheat, which has seen the most damage in terms of agricultural land, has started, and given these rainfall in the current year, the condition of our farms and gardens and pastures is good and we hope that in spite of all this we do not suffer losses in production.

Hojjati pointed out that there will be a definite increase in production of wheat, he emphasized.

It is worth mentioning that 700 billion Rials of compensation in the past two weeks have been paid to affected farmers in four flood-hit provinces of the country, with the share of damaged farmers in Khuzestan being 410 billion Rials.

According to government legislation, compensation to farmers will be the liability of the government, although the government did not insure their products, but more compensation from the government will be given to farmers who have insured their products.
