Deputy Director of Planning Organization of Iranian State Trading Company said by the end of September the country had paid 13,500 billion Tomans for buying wheat.

He said that he periodically visits grain companies across the country and attends to issues and problems closely.

Indicating that all payments to the farmers have been paid, Heidari said that despite the demands and sanctions, the company bought all wheat surpluses on the needs of the country’s farmers collected in the government silos and shopping centers.

  He pointed out that so far 7 million 8 hundred tons of wheat has been bought from farmers all over the country. He added that by the end of September, the country had paid 13,500 billion Tomans to purchase wheat.

We cannot comment on these statistics, but according to Agricultural Organization’s Data System this figure is predicted, said the deputy director of Planning for the Iranian State Trading Company, citing production of about 13 million tons of wheat in the country.

He pointed to a difference of 2 million five hundred thousand tons within the above statistics and continued: the storage of part of the crop produced for the consumption of farmers as well as the seeds needed for the crop year are the reasons for the difference.

Heidari stated that there are one thousand four hundred wheat shopping centers in the country, and shopping centers were increased compared to the previous year, and farmers have been given chance until the end of October for delivery.

He pointed to the possibility of wheat smuggling and said wheat is not a commodity that can be smuggled easily, products meet the needs of the country and we have had no wheat imports for about three years and we are self-sufficient in this regard.
