Federal Commercial Resistance Committee Demanded an Increase in Wheat Prices by 1930 Tomans

In a letter to Ali Larijani, the Federal Resistance Committee called for a revision of the wheat purchase law and an increase in the purchase price of wheat to 1930 Tomans.
In a letter to Ali Larijani, the parliamentary resistance committee has criticized the government’s performance in recent years regarding the announcement of agricultural prices, saying wheat prices should be raised to 1930 Tomans.
Rahim Zare, the member of the Economic Committee of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the chairman of the Resistance Committee, emphasized on the need to amend the Agricultural Commodity Assurance Act, stating that this measure is necessary to stabilize self-sufficiency in wheat production and to maintain food security. Accordingly, the Resistance Economics Committee of the Consultative Assembly has published its results in this regard in policy statement No. 970901 entitled “Confirmation of self-sufficiency in wheat production; obstacles and solutions”.
The purchase price of wheat for the current year, which has been announced 1470 Tomans (13% increase in comparison with the previous year), by 2 months delay has led to many protests and a large number of officials and experts have called for the amendment to be made on this law. Critics say the current rate, while weakening the incentives for farmers to cultivate wheat, exacerbates smuggling of this product to abroad.
