Farmers’ pre-sale of wheat by intermediaries
Ali Ebrahimi, a member of the
Islamic Consultative Committee on Agriculture, Water and Natural Resources,
said that the brokers had pre-purchased wheat at a price of 2,000 to 2,500 tomans
per kilogram.
In explaining the reasons for the
intermediaries, he explained: “Determining the low price of wheat
purchases by the Supreme Council of the Economy has led to a price difference
between wheat inside and out, which has led intermediaries to enter this market.
The member of the parliament’s
agricultural committee stated, during a meeting with the Minister for Agriculture,
that a pre-stocktaking of wheat was investigated, the Ministry of Agriculture
agreed to increase wheat purchases to prevent such issues, but determining this
price would be determined in a different direction which is not controlled by the
Ministry of Agriculture.
Ebrahimi said: “If this trend
continues, the government will surely be in the future to fill the silos and
supply the wheat needed by the country, which is threatened as a result of the
country’s food security.”
The representative of the Shazand
people in the parliament, emphasizing that the relevant authorities have been
reminded in this regard, stated: “We are worried that because of the low
wheat purchase price, this strategic item will be exported from the country,
and as with other items with rising prices But it should be noted that the
crisis in the wheat sector has led to an increase in the price of flour and
bread, which will harm the poor.
