Artisans protest bran pricing

The secretary of the Association of Macaroni Factories in Iran criticized setting the price of 4 tomans for sale of spaghetti manufactured bran said that in case of buying wheat at free price, it should not be priced for wheat bran.
Mohammad Hassan Amrollahi, secretary of the Association of Macaroni Factories of Iran, stated that at present macaroni factories are purchasing their flour at the price of 1 and 2 Tomans. There is a need to allocate bran to farmers at a reasonable price.

He said: The market regulator has now set a price of 4 tomans per kilo of wheat bran, while the pasta mills that buy wheat at free prices are not able to deliver the low-priced bran.

“If the government wants us to supply bran at a certain price, it must either compensate for the loss of factories or provide the industry with cheap wheat, which is not possible,” he said.

Amrollahi explained: Pasta mills now buy soft wheat in kilo-toman and duron wheat in kilo-toman. Under these circumstances, it may even be possible to sell wheat bran at the price of 1 kg, but there should be no limit to the price of free wheat bran.

According to him, about 5,000 tons of wheat bran is produced by macaroni plants annually, with a total of 2 to 5 percent of wheat bran and waste being produced per kilo of wheat.

“Since the beginning of this year, the price of wheat consumption in the industrial sector has increased by 5 percent, with the major share of wheat consumption being in the pasta industry,” he said.

“In a letter from the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, the price of wheat bran is for the free industry sector, but the support organization has set a specific rate,” said the secretary of the Association of Pasta Factories, stating that we had protested at various meetings or by letter to officials.

“At present, pasta mills buy all the raw materials they need at a cheap price, and in that case, the price set for the bran produced by these factories is incorrect,” he said.

Concerning the export status of pasta, Amrollahi also said: “Due to the export base rate, pasta exports are having a difficult time, so the current $ 2 rate is set as the export base for every ton of crop that Iraq and Afghanistan have. Rates are not willing to buy from us.

He added: “This is currently unclear and there is no export.”
