25 hectares of herbaceous caviar cultivated in Qom
The executive of the cultivation plan of Jihad-e-Keshavarzi in Qom said: “In order to implement a plan for cultivation and in order to manage and optimize water use, 25 hectares of kinoa or herbaceous caviar were cultivated in this province.
Mohammad Hossein Ahmadpour said: Kinoa is a low-calorie and nutritious herb producing its seeds in South America, and is also of great value in terms of trade and economics.
“This product, which is a good substitute for rice and wheat, is highly adapted to salty and dry lands, and its cultivation with water hardness of 17,000 cubic meters is also possible,” he added.
He said that now 2 hectares of this cultivating field in the Pardisan area have been created and for the current year cultivation of 160 hectares has been foreseen that we are preparing the seed.
Ahmadpour also said that the plains of Saveh and Sharif Abad as the largest and most fertile plains of Qom, which make up 40 percent of the area of the province, are covered by the plan, added: “The study process of the mentioned project was carried out by the Deputy Director of Jihad-e-Keshavarzi in Qom in Azar 1396 and the beginning of Aban and it was announced as a trial test for duration of five years.
He stated that the plain of `Salafchegan-Nizar`,` Qom-Kohak ` and ‘Daryache Namak` are three other plains of the province with a total of 110,000 hectares of agricultural land.
He mentioned the allocated credit for the project to one billion and 500 million Rials, adding that the infrastructure of the plan includes the machinery and equipment required to be supplied.
